Now that the Fall season has fully started and the cold weather is back, it is the perfect time to curl up indoors with cozy movies and the right music. Let’s discover what CHS students recommend to be sure to embrace the coming frozen days.
“I feel like every season has its own movies to match with the vibe,” Emma Woodard (‘26) said. ”For fall, I definitely love Harry Potter and Scooby Doo. Also, Twilight is always a good choice.”
When it comes to movies, some people like to wait for the right time to watch one that matches the vibe of the season. Why watch Beetlejuice under the summer sun or Mamma Mia! on a spooky October night when you can wait for the perfect moment to fully dive into the vibe? Timing, for some, makes all the difference.
“Bundled up in blankets, on a couch with my family, is my favorite way to watch a movie. The more important thing is being warm, especially because it’s really cold right now,” Woodard said.
For some people, Fall means being cozy. Enjoying beautiful colors, hot drinks, and timeless classics that make staying inside special. For others, fall also resonates because of Halloween, candy, and scary movies.
“I like to watch horror movies and classic Halloween movies. My favorite fall movie is Hocus Pocus,” Matt Edington (‘29) said.
It’s obviously the best time of the year to be scared by horror movies, whether it is through jump scares, nostalgic Halloween favorites, or eerie soundtracks. But as movie selections change, so do music choices. If you don’t always have the time to watch a movie, music is everywhere. In classrooms, on the way to school, or during a shower, let’s see how we can enjoy the season through the sound of music.
“I like to listen to more mellow types of music, that’s usually what the algorithm gives me,” Woodard said.
Between TikTok trends and seasonal playlists popping up on Spotify, students notice that even their algorithms seem to know it’s fall and play a big role in setting the seasonal mood.
“To get into the vibe, I try to listen to a fall playlist or some spooky music. It’s a good mood,” Edington said.
For both students, the changing colors outside seem to inspire new sounds as well. Softer or older songs seem to bring the vibe to gray fall afternoons.
”I usually listen to indie or older music. My favorite artist is Mac Miller,” Edington said.
Different genres reflect the season in their own ways. Some find calm in slower rhythms while others reach for nostalgic favorites that still feel timeless.
”For the fall season, I would recommend Billy Joel and One Direction; they’re both really good,” Woodard said.
