The juniors this year are having their last summer here at CHS as kids. As the school year comes to an end, Juniors are moving on with their lives, living to the fullest before they become seniors. These upcoming seniors talk about their plans for their last summer here and their future plans.
“I've been talking with my counselors a lot and seeing what I need to have prepared for the upcoming school year,” junior Julianne Sounart said.
As juniors come into their last year as high school student, their summer plans consist of lots of preparation for their senior year, such as AP language, which offers help with writing college essays.
“I am going to be writing a lot of college essays and college preparation,” Sounart said.
With the preparation for college essays, there are also students who are applying to colleges as well to prepare themselves for their last school year at CHS.
“Apply to a bunch of colleges, and specifically Michigan. I would like to go there,” junior Ariana Ortiz-Martinez said.
Even with the preparation for senior year approaching, students are still finding joy in their last moments of freedom as high school students.
“[I’m] excited to hang out with my friends and go to the lake. All the fun summer things,” Sounart said.
While Sounart is making memories, junior Solona Samek is planning to cherish her friendships and memories with her friends that might change after graduation because of her plans after graduating.
“I think it'd be cool to have my friends hang out the last time before we all leave or do whatever we're doing,” Samek said.
For some, this time period for students could be considered a limbo: preparing for a major change in their life, but staying in a relatively similar spot as in years before.
“I feel as though this summer is going to be different, but the same. I'm going to be applying to colleges and really thinking about my future and where I really want to go, and just high key locking in for senior year, but at the same time I feel as though I'm going to be doing the same thing: hanging out with the same people, and making bank,” Ortiz-Martinez said.
