For many siblings, playing the same sports is common. For Tanner 26’ and Tyson Linde 28’, it's also a shared experience shaped by the 15 years of being coached by their father. Both brothers compete in football and baseball, both coached by their father. Tyson only plays football and baseball. However, his time on the diamond is a bigger deal according to Tyson because his dad played in the minor league, which motivates him to get better everyday
“I know where I stand when it comes to athletics. I know if I'm being 100% honest, he's way more competitive than I am. He's probably gonna fight for a spot or fight to win, maybe a little harder than I will, Tanner said.
While both brothers share the field, their approaches are different., Tyson had many big challenges adapting to football for the first time he saw a lot of struggle very early in the summer.
“bit of a shock at how difficult it would be. I definitely was expecting it, but it definitely helped me as the season went on later on.” Tyson said.
When it came to football tanner saw a clear difference in how each of them adjusted. reflecting on their football experience. Tyson's first season showed a level of comfort for sports.
“But I'd say football, especially this year, because it was his first year playing it., He definitely eased his way into it way better than I was, ” Tanner said.
Despite growing up competing together, playing on the same team hasn't always been easy. Still, shared experiences have strengthened their bond. Starting when they were just little kids playing baseball.
“ We played on the same, little league, all star team. and we won districts with "We went to the state tournament. placed pretty [well] in the state tournament ” Tyson said “And our dad was actually the coach of that.”
Their dad Joe Linde went far into the independent leagues for two years after he played college baseball at Eastern Michigan. He was a right- handed pitcher with a fastball and a curveball. After he spent two years in independent leagues, he just wanted to retire from baseball and focus on his life.
He played a key role in the Linde brothers' development. Both of the brothers said that he holds both of them to a high standard.
“ [he] never really had me be the typical coach's kid that you think of. He's always pushed me and held me to a high standard, and I do believe it's gotten me to be the player that I am now,” Tyson said.
He wanted them to be successful, but it may lead to being a little skeptical how they always play’ However, on the diamond the brothers don't see him as their dad for seven innings.
“He's not really our dad. He's just another coach that's there,” Tanner said.
For some people the love for sports could die out. Some kids think about what they want to do later in life and make a career out of being good at sports and wanting to play in college., M Most kids use their athletic capability to get college Partially paid for.
“I do yeah College baseball has been my dream since I was a little kid., B Baseball is a huge part of my life so I want to play more" Tyson said.
Unlike Tanner who will be going to the University of Iowa for English and hopes to find a good career that fits him while Tyson is still trying to find a career that will match him , this is very different between the two. Being under the same roof there is a big difference for their career paths. You really see two sides of siblings and how different they can be. really change its impact when kids are starting young.
