Tennis regionals is one swing away from reaching our girls varsity team, with no more games to go, girls are excited and nervous. As CHS girls approach this competition, girls are interested in the large time space between regionals and state competition, and what they are going to do in that time.
“We haven't done regionals just yet,” Isabella Moser (‘26) said. “I'm kind of nervous, but I think we're gonna do great.”
Many girls are worried for states: varsity girls are getting bored of drills; Moser, who plays varsity 4 Doubles has a positive stance on excessive practices.
“We're practicing a lot, just everyday practice is normal,” Moser said, “We usually practice the same, as we usually play against each other in matches or just work on specific skills in drills.”
While some girls are focused on practices, others are more focused on the end goal. Samantha Bieber (‘26) is especially focused on her placing in regionals and states.
“Our state meet is two days long, making it to the semifinals; which is on the second day is my personal goal this year, because I didn't last year,” Bieber Said“And usually our team goal is for at least one or two people to make it to the second day.”
While girls like Bieber are locked in on states, others are more interested with coach Rahn Rosentreter. Tennis season seems to be putting a lot of pressure on him.
“He's really stressed about it, but I think he's better now, because he was a lot more stressed at the beginning of the year. but now he is fine about it because we're doing pretty good.” Persephone Berg (‘27) said .
Many girls comment on the large time spacing between regionals and states, since their states are on June 5/6th, some are unbothered but some are a little worried about what that gap means for their tennis games they get to play.
“I would like to have some matches in between, but I'm excited to get some good solid practice in because we haven't had a lot of time because of all the rain and cold this season, so I hope we get some good practice,” Bieber said.
Most girls have mixed emotions about what's coming up, Berg has mixed emotions about potentially playing somebody very good, and having a very good match.
“I'm excited, but I'm scared, because I might have to play someone really good,” Berg said.
