Swim Team Sets Big Goals This Season

The boys swim team looks to return to the state meet and finish what it started last year. The swim team finished just outside of the Top 10 last school year. The boys had a difficult start this season with a loss in their first meet, but the team looks to rebound and find its stride to begin a successful season.

The Bulldogs lost two great swimmers this year due to graduation. Wes Wickens (’19) was ranked 2nd in the State for the event he swam and Gabe Gasbarre (’19) was always quick and consistent.

“We’re going to miss Gabe Gasbarre and Wes Wickens,” senior captain Deaglan Krause said.

While the Bulldogs lost some vital swimmers, they also brought in many promising new freshmen.

“The team is a lot bigger in numbers this year, there’s a lot of freshman,” Krause remarked.

The development of these younger swimmers will certainly lead the swim program in the right direction. However, the Bulldogs aren’t just focused on developing their swimmers for future years as they’re also in a place to win major meets now.

Deaglan Krause (’20), Niko Fannin (’20), Zander Hartsuff (’20), Parker Olk (’22), and Landon Collins (’22) are some of our fastest swimmers,” senior swimmer Dominic Green said.

With their quick swimmers, the Bulldogs will look to dethrone Dexter from the SEC Championship and finish their season at the state meet with a Top 10 finish.
