Chelsea beat Parma Western 1-0 last Thursday to take home the first district championship the team has seen in 15 years.

“We could not be any prouder of these young men,” Tweeted @ChelseaBSoccer after the win. “They left everything on the field and overcame adversity together.”

Chelsea beat Pinckney 5-0 on October 15th and Tecumseh 5-1 on the 22nd in order advance to the district final. They had already beat both of those teams during the regular season, so they knew going in they had the chance to beat them again in the state tournament.

After Thursday’s game, the teams overall record is 13-4. Now that they are in the state tournament, though, a loss means the end of the season. Senior Solair Didominico explained the high stake of the rest of their games helps motivate the players to do their best and get the results that they have so far.

“It just made me very focused and excited to play hard,” he said. “I knew that if we all did that, then none of these games would be our last. I was really proud of our mental focus, determination, and grit to play hard and smart that allowed us to win.”

Tomorrow at 7 PM the Bulldogs will take on Riverview at Divine Child in an attempt to get to the regional final game.
