Prom is a milestone, a time for self expression, and a chance to get dressed up and dance the night away with friends. The dance is right around the corner and the theme is The Great Gatsby, giving students a great chance to go all-out. 

“The Great Gatsby takes place in the Roaring 20’s. We are using the 2013 film for much of our inspiration,” English teacher Amanda Knop said. “Our Gatsby party will be energetic and lively, with black, gold, and silver feathers and sequins.”

Prom will take place on May 9th, from 9 p.m.  until midnight, at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti Hotel at Eagle Crest.

“Students should expect a night full of dancing and fun,” Knop said. “We will have several activities, like games, a photo booth, beverages, snacks, and caricature drawings.”

Prom committee is in need of creative, organized students who enjoy planning. Currently, the committee is working on ordering, designing, and printing decorations, posters, and tickets. If this sort of work seems interesting to you, listen to the announcements for the next upcoming meeting which will be held in Knop’s room (235) before school.

“I think it’s a cool theme,” Jack Krauss (’20) said. “We’re in the 20s now, and it’ll be easier for kids to dress up for than some of the other themes. It’s clever.”
