The Chelsea field hockey team made it to the Division 2 finals after a win over Cranbrook. In the semifinal game, Grace Lane (‘21) scored the first goal halfway through the first half on a corner penalty. Her goal carried the team with a lead through the half time. A quarter way through the second half Makayla Kegris (‘22) scored an explosive goal by a reverse chip into the top corner. Soon after, Cranbrook had a stroke penalty and scored their first point. Chelsea’s defense was able to hold Cranbrook off until the end of regulation time, making Chelsea undefeated in the playoffs with a score of 2-1, and allowing the team to continue to the finals.

In the Division 2 finals match, Chelsea played skyline in a great game. They took the runner-up title with a surprising end to their 9-9-2 season. Skyline took the lead with five minutes left in the first half and entered halftime up 1-0. Both teams had many shots on goal and equal processions. With only two minutes left in regulation time, Chelsea scored on a corner penalty. Captain Maddie Vogel (‘21) passed the ball to Chelsea’s other captain Grace Lane (‘21) and, Lane, unable to get a clear shot, passed the ball to Kendra Patterson (‘21). Patterson shot and scored on Skyline’s goalie, tying the game 1-1. Time ran out during a Skyline corner but a foul inside the circle caused one last penalty. Skyline scored the winning goal in the final play of the game, making Chelsea the Division 2 runner-up.
