The Chelsea hockey program is a special team that shares a close bond with all of its players. The Hockey team is led by a player picked each year for his strive and dedication to the program. This year senior Luke Webster, a goalie for Chelsea hockey, was picked to lead the team.
“I never really expected to be a captain just because of my position as a goalie, but I think with this kind of a different type of team that we have this year, it’s kind of fitting to have a kind of unconventional captain and to have a goalie as Captain. And I think it’s cool, but I definitely did not expect it when I was younger to be the captain,” Webster said.
Being put in this position has allowed Luke to grow and develop not only as a leader but as a player. “I think it puts more responsibility on me, for sure, makes me have to look at the team in a different way than I have, and really think about how others can kind of hype up the team you ever feel like as a captain, you have to prove some energy for the team to go on for a game.”
As the Chelsea varsity hockey team continues to play, we see the team and players grow and bond closer. This makes for a much stronger and organized team. Through the ups and downs the team has gone through it all together. These patches and growth are what makes the boys push through all the way to the end.
“My favorite part about this team would probably have to be how we’ve kind of come together and really, I think, developed as a whole throughout the beginning.” “I think the season’s going pretty well. I think we kind of got off to a rough start, but we’re picking it up as a team, and I think we’re gonna be looking good going into the playoffs.” said Webster.
