The popular video game Fortnite came out on July 21, 2017, and ever since it came out, the game has continued to change, but everyone has always wanted the O.G. seasons to come back. But logging onto Fortnite on December 6th, 2024 felt like I was eleven years old again getting on with the boys. I was excited to ask where we’re dropping and have a lot of throwbacks to the “good old days”. But in reality, it will never be the same as it was.
The OG season is really great. All the old locations and weapons are back but it wasn’t the same it used to be. Although all the gameplay was the same, we weren’t the same people we used to be. It wasn’t really the game that was great, it was the experience that came with it. Playing with your friends late at night and hopping on early when you had a snow day, will never be the same.
When the OG game mode came back on December 6th, 2024 there was a lot of hype around the release. Leading up to it and many years before there were always rumors that it was coming back but this time it really did. After the release, many videos and gameplay streams were made from it. Yet it wasn’t long after it came out that it was just some other game mode. A few weeks after it came out, instead of positive videos coming out about it there were many things posted, talking about how it’s not the same and it’s not as good.
Though I’m making it sound like a negative thing, I don’t fully feel like it is. Many great throwbacks and things send you back to when the game really first came out. The old weapons were a big thing that really was just like they used to be. The golden scar had the old firing noise and it was so nostalgic to hear for the first time, and many people made videos and TikToks about it.
Another great thing about the old seasons is the P.O.I. (Point Of Interest). These old locations were great to go back to and explore. All the old secret spots and places where there was lots of loot that only O.G.s know about were fun to see again. These places brought back great memories from back in the O.G. days and it will always be good to be able to access these recollections.
Some people might be happy about it coming back and others might not care, but many of the people that did play in the days it was new will probably come back to play the great game once again. Only people who did play in those days will know the fun it was to hop on, run some duos, and not care about anything but the game that they were in.
