As the basketball season heats up it’s very clear that the boy’s team is getting all the spotlight from the student section, compared to the girls.
“We should have more people in the student section to spend time together and cheer for our team as equally as we do for the boys,” Neve Rodriguez (‘26) said.
Girls and boys are both great teams however people make the choice to support the boys over the girls.
“It’s not fair that the boys get to have themes when they play at home, but the girls don’t, so I feel like we should cooperate with that and join together,” Rodriguez said.
During the girl’s game less people come to attend and watch their teams. The girls feel left out and feel that the student sections at the guy’s games get more attention and support. This unfairness causes disappointment among both teams.
“The guys’ student section is much bigger, which is very unfair,” Kahlen Eckert (‘25) said.
If you take a look at the student sections for the boys and girls basketball the size is noticeably different.
“People don’t think girls basketball is as fun to watch, and they don’t care as much,” Brady Mckale (‘26) said.
The students should take pride in their student sections for both boys and girls. The support shouldn’t be selective; both teams deserve all the attention and support they can get.
