Chelsea students have navigated the highs and lows of TV shows in 2024, with some series becoming instant favorites while others failed to impress, reflecting the diverse tastes and ever-changing trends.
“My favorite TV show is Gossip Girl because I find it very entertaining. It made me think about gossip and things that go around during school,” freshman Ava Samon said.
Gossip Girl wasn’t the only TV hit for 2024. Other favorite TV shows hooked Chelsea students like Squid Games and You. These series provided mixes of many different plots.
“I really like the show You because I could just watch it forever and it’s just really captivating,” freshman Sylvia Dell said. “It made me think about what goes on in all the different peoples’ minds.”
Some people loved the shows so much that others got hooked on some shows and ended up watching them for hours without stopping.
“I binge-watched Squid Games when it first came out and it took about 5 hours,” Samon said.
Although some shows quickly became favorites, others didn’t capture the audiences as well, not living up to the expectations.
“I didn’t like Criminal Minds as much because each episode had the same outcome and there wasn’t anything new happening,” Samon said.
There were shows that people didn’t like as much and there were other shows that missed their marks and were disappointing for Chelsea students.
“I have had some shows that disappointed me because sometimes they end on cliffhangers and then they never have another season,” Dell said.
Some shows just get too repetitive and boring, which makes students lose interest and stop watching them altogether.
“Yes, I stopped watching Jane the Virgin because it just got really boring and stuff stopped happening for a while,” Dell said.
