Many seniors at CHS are facing the struggles of choosing what colleges they want to attend. With its proximity and the admissions results releasing soon, many students have their eyes set on the University of Michigan.
“The main reason I want to go to U of M is because it’s the closest biggest school, so location is a big factor,” senior Bob Davis said.
Seniors have to weigh the pros and cons of the opportunities they are being given which can be quite stressful.
“I think it’s all the different opportunities that colleges offer and then in-state versus out-of-state, and then just comparing how much money colleges offer you,” senior Alex Bennett who applied to U of M said.
Science teacher Holly Reiser was drawn to the amount of opportunities given at U of M, and the programs that fit her goals. Along with the good schooling programs offering 111 undergraduate majors, 50 doctoral programs, and about 80 master’s degrees.
“You could take some outdoor classes throughout their programs. They did some classes out in nature, which I really liked a lot,” Reiser said. “And they had a lot of good technology available, so they were current in what they were teaching and what tools they had available.”
Other than Michigan, other colleges such as Kettering, have programs that have drawn the attention of some students.
“They have a unique co-op program where I would be focused on work for one semester and then college education for one semester. So I would have the chance to work and have high-level classes at the same time and keep challenging myself.” Aiden Kidd said.
