Finding the perfect homecoming dress can be a daunting task for many girls. With so many styles, colors, and designs to choose from, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed – or even hopeless.
“I didn’t know if I wanted a V-neck or square neck at the top. I tried on both, but I had a hard time deciding,” freshman Ava Skrypec said.
With so many students and so few options, some girls are embracing the idea that their choices might not be entirely unique, and some are okay with the possibility of shared styles rather than stressing over standing out.
“I’m 100% sure there’s at least gonna be two girls with the same dresses, which I’m fine with,” freshman Emma Busch said.
Some girls had very specific requirements for their dresses. If one was not fulfilled, it could make or break their decision to purchase the dress.
“I wanted a color that matches my skin tone,” freshman Ella Geitzen said. “I wanted something that was gonna stay up, so nothing strapless. And I didn’t want anything too short.”
When going shopping, several students had lots to consider. When asking girls if they mostly succeeded or struggled when shopping for their dress, the majority of them said that they struggled to find a dress that matched their liking due to their specific requirements.
“I wanted one that wasn’t too long. It needed to be the colors I wanted, blue sparkles and stuff like that. And I still wanted one that I liked.” freshman Lily Neilson said.
High expectations and pickiness paid off in the end for most girls. They were able to find a dress that met their expectations and – most importantly – one that they felt confident and comfortable in.
”Even though finding the perfect dress was really hard, I feel like having those requirements helped me find the one I’m most happy with. In the end, all that searching was worth it,” freshman Macaela Webber said.
