As kids grow older, part of their journey is discovering and learning new things that they enjoy or need to improve at. But the Chelsea High School marching band wants to help kids discover their own way into music.
“We went to North Creek to teach the kids about things that you might not be good at,” sophomore Kelsey Schroeder said. “[And that] you should always keep working toward it to improve.”
Being back at North Creek is a great experience for some and maybe an emotional one for others, seeing how far we have come over the years some people still hold on to those memories from years ago.
“I don’t know if that’s still a thing now but I know that I would look forward to being in the next grade so I could explore more of the playground or the fields,” junior Izzy D’Alcey said. “I also made some of my greatest friends at North, they are still my best friends to this day.”
Years go by and kids get the urge to discover and try new things. But sometimes if something is uncool they don’t want to participate in the activity even if they really enjoy it.
“A lot of kids will tell them to quit the band even though they like being in a band,”
D’Alcey said. “I love the band and I wanted to show the kids that you should do what you are interested in even if people tell you not to do it.”
In band, you can do many different sections if you want to participate. Since there are so many different sections in band, it is a great place for everyone to participate and have fun.
“Woodwinds, brass, and percussion. In band there is a place for everyone.” Schroeder said. “Even if you play a different instrument or are in a different section, everyone in the band can get along, because we are all there for the same purpose.”
