While school and sports tend to take over students’ lives, mental health should always be a priority. Students in CHS tend to get caught up in school, grades, and sports which can lead to them feeling mentally stressed. The Srsly group strives to help students feel accompanied no matter what they are going through while spreading awareness about mental health.
“From what I know, Srsly is a program based on spreading mental health awareness,” sophomore Kendall Kuck said. “I love the group and I love what they do, there’s a lot of kids that struggle with mental health and I think the group helps everyone feel less alone.”
The Srsly group is stepping up its game of spreading mental health awareness. Day by day, they help more students speak up about mental struggles or illnesses. The group depicts a welcoming and safe environment.
“I believe mental health is just as important as physical health,” Kuck said. “A lot of students and especially student athletes struggle with balancing their mental health with school work and sports so sometimes knowing you have the group to lean on when you’re struggling is a comforting feeling.”
Focusing on mental health is important because it affects every aspect of our lives. In high school, things can pile up and quickly become consuming. For a student, taking care of your mental health can help things come easier while ensuring that you can enjoy the activities you love.
“Something I love about the Srsly group is the meaningful activities they do,” Kuck said. “Srsly is at football games and always supports the sports teams with shirts or something to cheer with. They have fun while spreading mental health awareness and I think that’s huge.”
While the Srsly group is an inspirational and powerful organization, it also has great advertising. Because Srsly is directed towards kids, it attempts to make the advertising fun and take advantage of situations. Srsly is at multiple sports games and events with merchandise like sweatshirts, shirts, or even stickers, all to help others grasp a better understanding of mental health.
“Mental health is important and lots of kids are too timid to talk about it,” Kuck said. “The Srsly group has helped me along with many others speak up and I’m looking forward to watching the program grow.”
