A week of Homecoming celebration at CHS always includes a parade to tour the town, comic book fans would’ve loved this year’s theme on superheroes. The senior class’s theme was Spider-Man, the juniors were Batman, the sophomores were Captain America, and the freshmen were Superman. The parade went off without a hitch, but the preparation wasn’t so smooth.
“We didn’t have a game plan of what exactly we’re gonna do, and our biggest struggle was finding the actual trailer and then finding the time to work on it,” freshman student council member Landry Cook said
The student council members from each grade worked on a float following their theme this year the student council was struggling to create their superhero floats. The work for the junior and freshman floats began at 8 pm on Thursday, the night before parade day. With little money and time, they had to use their resources wisely.
“We had people go to the dollar store and get tablecloths to use to cover the float with and then we had to reuse our hallway decorations,” Cook said
Despite the struggle to prepare for the parade, when the day of the parade arrived students were still clapping and cheering, representing the “pride of Chelsea.” as the floats passed. The parade means a lot to the students of CHS as it brings morale and excitement to the school.
“It made me feel happy and like a part of a community. It was really fun being a part of all of it and seeing everyone,” freshman Anastasia Moser said.
The parade, though stressful at the moment, brings a lot of joy and excitement to the students of CHS because it’s an amazing opportunity to represent the clubs and classes that the students love and stand for.
“The parade is important to students because it showcases, like what they’ve worked on, or their accomplishments, and it gets people involved, and it gives everyone a chance to showcase that as a student,” Cook said
