As homecoming approaches at Chelsea High School, excitement begins to kick in. While some students look forward to experiencing their first school dance, others are preparing for their last.
“I want to make the most out of this one,” senior Kahlen Eckert said. “Although I’m sad it’s my last homecoming, I’m looking forward to celebrating with my friends.”
While homecoming season is everyone’s favorite time of year, it can often be a difficult pill to swallow knowing it’s your homecoming.
“I’m really looking forward to homecoming,” freshman Landry Cook said. “The upperclassmen have made the experience seem like such a blast, and my friends and I can’t wait.”
All of the excitement is part of what makes it so bittersweet for the senior class. Looking back on the thrilling emotions that came with their first dance and comparing it to their last can be difficult.
“My advice to freshmen for homecoming is to make the most out of it and don’t be afraid to dance,” Eckert said. “It doesn’t last forever and the memories are one-of-a-kind.”
Being outgoing isn’t easy, especially at such a big dance with so many other people. Nonetheless, our seniors believe it’s important to step out of your comfort zone.
“I imagine the dance is going to be the time of my life,” Cook said. “I’m excited for the fancy dresses, pictures, and dancing with all of my friends.”
Homecoming is an exhilarating experience for all age groups and is something everyone deserves to experience. It brings out everyone’s school spirit while also getting us together in a festive and positive atmosphere.
“Homecoming is an amazing time with friends and an absolute blast,” Eckert said. “I think it’s something every student deserves to experience.”
