As we approach the Homecoming dance on October 5th at CHS, dark dresses that have always been a staple are very popular, with an open back that ties, glitter fabric, and a body-con shape.
“I wanted a dress with kind of, like a flowy bottom, but not the whole thing and a tighter top, but I didn’t really want a tight dress all the way down,” freshman Iara Lawrence said.
A lot of students wanted darker shades for their homecoming dresses this year. 71% of the students at CHS surveyed said they have a darker dress, while the other 29% picked the third option of none of the above. Pastel is definitely out with a whopping 0% of subjects buying them.
“I was looking for something that matched my color palette. I was looking for green, blue, red and darker colors,” freshman Amy Stanavich said.
With over 100 dresses and 350 locations, Windsor is an incredibly popular store to purchase homecoming dresses. Despite their variety, girls still end up finding the same dress and show up to the dance in similar attire. The love for darker shades and glitter leads one dress to catch three student’s eyes and purchase the same dress for the same dance, leaving a shortage on the rack.
“I’m excited, because the dress kind of checks all the boxes and well, except for the originality one, which I still feel bad about, but I really like it and I’m happy with it,” freshman Vivian Parker said.
These three girls will attend the homecoming dance in the same sparkly dress. The only difference is two have the dress in black and the other has it in a dark green. The demand for this dress is clear among these students, but none of them seem to mind.
“Dresses look different on everyone who wears them, so a lot of people don’t even notice that you’re wearing the same dress as someone else,” Lawrence said.
