As the 2024 football season starts again at Chelsea High School the students are getting excited for this year’s student section themes. One theme the students look forward to the most is color blasts; color blast is where the students gather in the parking lot to get packets of color thrown all over each other, then head over to the field where they go to support the football team.
“Colorblast is so fun,” sophomore McKenzie Williams said. “It’s funny to see the people get covered in color to the point where you can’t even recognize them, and so many people go so the student section is always so hype.”
However this year, the student council got different powder packets, and the students who have blonde hair cannot seem to get the color out. While most students are just choosing to keep it in their hair and let it fade out, some aren’t very happy with it, and even go as far as seeing professional stylists to try and strip the color out.
“I’ve tried to wash it many times but gotten to the point where I know it’s not gonna come out,” Williams said. “I tried asking my friends who had the same issue and no one could get it out unless they went to the salon and paid for them to take it out.”
Before going to the game students did not know that they were gonna leave with dyed hair, so nobody was prepared or took any caution towards the powder actually getting in their hair
“We all went there just to get blasted before the football game not knowing that the powder would stay in our hair for a long time, but if I had known I would’ve tried to avoid getting it in my hair,” Williams said.
As blonde CHS students rush around trying to get the dye out of their hair, students who do not have blonde hair walk around in colorful shoes and clothing. Washing their clothes after the football game did not work for many and their clothes are still stained.
“Even though my hair is pink and my clothes are stained, the colorblast is still my favorite student section theme and I can’t wait for next year,” Williams said.
