In the halls of Chelsea High School, a small but vibrant AP Government class stands as a strong example of collaboration and academic pursuits. Amidst the whirlwind of assignments, discussions, and exams, students in this tight-knit community find themselves propelled forward by a unique blend of motivation and mutual support. The small size of the class, with only 12 students, cultivates healthy competition, catalyzing academic growth.
“I think it builds some sort of camaraderie because you’re with a group of people that you enjoy interacting with and have common interests,” senior Arianne Hunter said.
Each student is not just a participant but a contender, spurred on by the collective drive to excel. From spirited debates to collaborative study sessions, the pursuit of excellence becomes a shared endeavor.
“To motivate myself I remember why I took the class, it’s important to me and I think a high-energy class and people that work together openly discussing allows you to easily bounce ideas off and motivate each other together,” Hunter said.
Moreover, the support network within the class serves as a lifeline during moments of doubt or fatigue.
“The environment is loud at times, but we focus and build each other up. We aren’t competitive in a mean way but the small class environment allows all ideas to be heard and for opinions to be discussed in a way that allows us to grow and work hard in the class” Hunter said.

As these students navigate the intricate maze of governance and politics, they do so not as individuals but as members of a vibrant community, united in purpose and driven mindsets.
“If I could advise someone taking or thinking of taking an AP class is to find a working schedule, chunk up your work, and find different ways to stay motivated that work for you!”
