As he recently hit 1000 points in his high school basketball career, senior Jake Stephens continues to be an important asset for the team. He has also committed to North Georgia, looking forward to continuing his time on the court as a Nighthawk.
“He deserves this accomplishment, he has always worked hard and supported every one of us like a leader,” teammate Joseph Cabana (‘24) said.
Being on Varsity all four years of high school and now being committed takes a lot of pressure off Stephens shoulders.
“I came home after my visit and then committed a week later,” Stephens said. “I just don’t have as much pressure on me to perform for colleges, I can worry about my team.”
While us Bulldogs are sad to see Jake go next year, we know he will thrive just as much as he did here with all the support from school and community.
“It just felt like home,” Stephens said. “It’s like the next big step, the biggest decision in your life.”
As things start to change throughout the rest of the season with already being committed, Stephens is out there for his team always.
“What motivates me is to help my teammates out that are trying to play in college, Stephens said, “and help them to experience it the way I did.”
