Out in sunny Florida, it’s still, despite the late season, a great tourist destination. The sun, pleasantly warm, heats up the land to just the right temperature, making it a great place to bask on the beaches and soak up the sun’s rays. Meanwhile, here in Michigan, it’s a bit different.
“The temperature changes are wonderful, aren’t they?” An enthusiastic freshman student exclaims “You never know what you’re going to get. One day it could be snowing and freezing, and the next it could be in the eighties! It’s such a fun surprise!”
In fact, the randomness of this phenomenon confuses anyone put to the task of solving this mystery. Even the most knowledgeable professionals find this conundrum to be mystifying.
“It just doesn’t add up,” a puzzled meteorologist remarked. “Things like this simply aren’t natural. We’ve been trying for years to predict Michigan weather, but our predictions never seem to be very accurate.
But what really causes the fickle nature of Michigan weather? Countless studies have been conducted on the matter, but all have been inconclusive. Could it be that there is another cause, perhaps something less natural? Some eager students share their theories on the topic.
“It’s the government!” an anonymous student proclaims. “They’ve discovered how to control the weather and have selected Michigan to test! That’s why the weather changes so randomly and never seems to stay the same like other states.”
Other students chalk it up to the effects of a changing earth.
“It’s global warming, obviously,” a senior student says. “The weird weather patterns, the fluctuations between hot and cold temperatures—it’s clearly global warming. It’s the only thing that makes sense.”
Many theories have been made, each one wilder than the last. But, in light of what we have learned, could it be that these are more than just fictional tales?
At any rate, the weather has been a nuisance to Michigan residents for years upon years, and numerous activities and vacations have been canceled due to inclement weather. The weather department has been “snowed in” with so many complaints filed against them for faulty information that they had to refuse any mail coming to them from non-business sources.
“It’s been terrible,” the manager said, looking very harried. “Just about every Michigan resident has been sending us mail telling us how to do our job and what we’re doing wrong. It’s ridiculous!”
At Chelsea, the sports programs, in particular, have been negatively impacted by the weather for both fans and athletes alike. Aside from the cancellations and such, fans have been constantly annoyed by the cold temperatures, rain, snow, and other factors that seem to appear in what was forecasted to be clear weather.
“You just always have to be prepared,” a soaking football fan said ruefully after a rainy game. “Even if the forecast predicts no rain, if it’s a football game, there’s always rain.”
Michigan residents have adapted to the strange weather, and still life goes on despite the constant annoyance, but remember, always bring your umbrella!
