Longtime Chelsea teacher and cross country coach Mr. Swagger has recently retired, and his retirement brings an opening to the position of a new science and math teacher. This brings us the wonderful new hire, Wendy Bolakowski. Bolakowski earned her bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics and holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Outside of the classroom, Bolakowski is a very active person and enjoys spending her time outdoors. Her frequent hobbies of choice include activities like hiking, camping, and gardening in her free time.
When not outdoors, Bolakowski is a very energetic teacher and shows a lot of passion for teaching. “I enjoy working with students the most; I see myself staying here until I retire,” Bolakowski said when asked how well she’s adjusting to her new job.
“She’s got a lot of experience in the different areas of physics and engineering. And I think she’ll be able to bring that into the classroom with a lot of energy and knowledge,” Molly Mattias, a fellow science teacher, said when talking about how excited she was with the new science teacher.
The things Mattias had to say were all positive and happy about Bolakowski joining the CHS family. With the short time she has been here, Bolakowski seems to be leaving a positive impact already.
“She really seems to love teaching and loves physics,” Mattias said. “She had a really good knowledge of the Chelsea area and Chelsea schools, and I think that’s important in making connections.” Matias said that she had a great interview with Bolakowski and that she was excited and really wanted to be part of the Chelsea school district.
“She truly was trying to come into the Chelsea schools,” Mattias said. “She wasn’t really just looking for a job; she really wanted to be a part of what we have going on here.”
