On Aug. 23, the feeder calves and steer were judged at the 85th annual Chelsea Community Fair.
Thomas Littlefield, a Michigan State University graduate, was the judge for the event. He has been judging cows since 2019 and has experience with feeder calves and steers.
During judging, Littlefield gave feedback to every participant competing to encourage growth and change for the coming years. Feedback included how to better handle a misbehaving cow, improving eye contact with the judge, and positioning critiques of the animal.
The event ended with the announcement of grand champions in the steer categories. Many thanks were given to parents, guardians, and breeders. Without them, this event would not be possible, and Littlefield encouraged the participants to recognize them.
