Chelsea Wrestling Takes Down Two Big SEC Matches

The Chelsea wrestling team knocked out Jackson and Dexter in their dual meet on Thursday, January 12, beating both Jackson 66-10 and Dexter 54-20. 

Via this meet, The Bulldogs won two big SEC matches and are now 15-3 in their season. 

Donavan Fisk (‘24), went 1-1 as he won against Jackson and lost against Dexter while competing in Heavy Weight against an 8th rank D1 player. 

“I came in ready to win but my opponent was a strong guy and had a lot of history and practice for wrestling,” Fisk said.

Other wrestlers, like Evan Muchler (‘24) and Victor Radu (‘24), defeated both Jackson and Dexter. 

Carter Trinkle (‘23) was incredibly prepared for his matches. While facing his opponent from Jackson, Trinkle pinned him down in the first period. Trinkle won against Dexter and went 2-0.

Listening to music that puts him in the right mindset before a game, Nick Garza (’23) competed at 190 lbs and went 1-1 losing against Dexter, but hitting a quick shot and putting his Jackson opponent straight on his back. 

Junior Lucas Racine went into the matches with a good attitude and worked his moves, winning 2-0 while pinning both Jackson and Dexter in the second period at 132 lbs. 

“I’ve gotten over being nervous and the outcome should be good,” Racine said before the match.
