Corbin Steele (‘21) and Trenton Hill (‘22), who both played well against Pinkney last Friday, have been nominated for MLive’s Ann Arbor-Area player of the week.

Both Hill and Steele had major influence in winning Friday’s game 32-13. Steele had eleven tackles, and Hill scored two touchdowns and rushed 138 yards.

Though Pinkney took the lead in the first half and started the game strong, the Bulldogs came back after halftime stronger.

“We knew Pinkney would bring their A-game because this game meant a lot for the league,” Steele said. “They punched us in the mouth the first half, but we were able to regroup at half and play like ourselves in the second half to shut them down.”

Both Steele’s and Hill’s best plays of the game took place in the second half.

“[One of my favorite plays happened] early in the second half when we were down by a touchdown and Pinkney had the ball,” Steel said. “A couple of my teammates made a great play stopping the kid at the line, and I was able to come in and strip the ball, recover it and get it back to our great offense.”

“I think the biggest play for me was my 48 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter,” Hill said.

The team played very well and stayed together for most of the game.

“Even when we were down everyone stayed together and had each other’s backs,” Steele said. “The defense got the ball back for our offense in the second half, and they converted on their chances. We got a good team win.”
