Cross Country Runners Commit to Grand Valley State University for Next Fall

Carson Rabitt and Jensen Holm

Chelsea High School will be well-represented on the Grand Valley state cross country team next fall. Carson Rabbit and Jensen Holm have been large contributors to back-to-back state Championships for the Chelsea cross country team.

Earlier this year, both Holm and Rabbit signed their letters of intent to run at Grand Valley State University. “GVSU was just the best fit for me,” Rabbit said. “I’m really excited for the opportunity to get started there.”

The two have had great success at CHS, helping build a cross country team that can compete for state championships year in and year out. “We’ve just had a lot of great guys on the team that bought into putting the work in,” Rabbit said.

“Competing in state championships really gives us a feel for the atmosphere of a college event,” Rabbit said.

Not many people can say they’ve won two back-to-back state championships, regardless of the sport. “It’s a heck of an accomplishment,” Holm said. “We couldn’t have done it without the rest of the guys on the team.”

Holm, Rabbit, and the rest of the boys cross country team would run around town after school every day, even on weekends, in an attempt to improve their times. “How far we had to go depended on how Mr. Swagger was feeling that day,” Rabbit said.

After miles and miles of running, the two have found themselves at a turning point in their lives. It is their last year at Chelsea before they move onto college. “I’m really going to miss having fun with all the guys on the team,” Holm said. “They were always fun to be around every day.”

Both Holm and Rabbit are very accomplished runners at Chelsea. They will each have a blank slate next fall at GVSU, ready to keep improving both in their running and in the classroom.
