On the evening of Thursday, January 27, Chelsea played against Bermingham High School. The game was close with lots of near goals, but the first period ended un-scored. In the second period, Bermingham was up by two but Chelsea held their ground and pulled off an amazing 3-2 comeback in the third period.

However, their plans for a win on Friday didn’t turn out as the team had planned.

Against Utica Eisenhower, it was a dog fight for the win. In the last period, the two teams were tied up, resulting in a shootout. Despite the Bulldogs’ efforts, Utica took the win that evening. 

Although the team didn’t win, the team didn’t allow the loss to weigh them down.

“The team had more focus to prove a point that we can beat good teams,” Keegan Montgomery (‘24) said.

On Saturday, they took this perspective into their game. Playing against Northville, the Bulldogs pulled off a strong 6-1 victory wrapping up the Michigan Public High School Showcase.

“It [felt] like there [was] more pressure but we still got to go out there and played our game,” Nathan Sobiechowski (‘26) said. 

Because everyone was playing as a team and completing their roles, the team walked away from the showcase with two wins and only one loss, knowing each player did their job and performed well.

Looking to the future, the team hopes to use what they learned from the showcase to improve their game and continue to play hard.

“A key factor to our success was us sticking together and playing as a team and not as individuals,” Montgomery said.
