New Biology teacher Mrs. Lyndsay Grasman has started this year and wants to help students be successful in any way possible.

“I hope to help students in any way that I can,” Grasman said. “If I can be a bright spot in their day and help them be successful in any aspect of their life then I am doing something right.”

With science being a subject that can be tricky for some, she’s hoping to give more opportunity for students to learn from each other as well as from her.

“I want my students to experience science in a good way,” Grasman said. “I am a facilitator and my students lead the discussions.”

Grasman has wanted to be a teacher since she was very young. Her dad and various other teachers she has had growing up inspired her.

“I come from a long line of educators, so you could say it’s in my blood,” Grasman said. “I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s life and decided I could do that in education.”

She was drawn to Chelsea because of the high educational standards and the beautiful scenery that comes with it.

“Chelsea has always been a great school and district,” Grasman said. “I have always loved everything about Chelsea. It is a very beautiful place.”

Grasman made sure to point out the fact that the teachers at Chelsea High School have been very welcoming. She has become acquainted with the school but is eager to explore more about it.

“I have met a few teachers and have found my way to my room, the office, the bathroom, and found where the copier is,” Grasman said. “This will sound bad but I have yet to walk into the gym.”

Grasman has worked at two other charter schools and one other public school. All together this will be her ninth year of teaching. Working at various schools provides her with good experience to work with students.

“I value relationships with my students and my classroom culture,” Grasman said. “I want it to be a safe place where students are willing to take risks.”

Though during this time it has been hard to start teaching at a new school during the pandemic, Grasman is motivated to give students the educational elements they need to succeed.

“I want my students to be the best version of themselves,” Grasman said. “I know that success is not measured by how much money you make but how hard you are willing to try and not give up.”
