The Chelsea Bulldogs traveled to Ypsilanti Lincoln last Friday night and walked away with a 37-7 victory to 2-0 in the SEC White division.

After a slow start, quarterback Griffin Murphy (’21) threw a 44 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Joe Taylor (’21) putting the Bulldogs up 7-0. Chelsea added to their lead in the 2nd quarter with touchdown passes from Murphy to Lucas Hanifan (’22) and Tyler Valik (’21). Junior Cole Munson added a 6 yard touchdown run.  The Bulldogs lead 28-0 at the half.

The Railsplitters came out strong after halftime. Led by running back Jordan Collier, the Railsplitters scored on their first possession of the 3rd quarter. Trey Richey hit Jaylen Tompson with a 16 yard touchdown strike to make the score 28-7.  The Bulldogs responded with a 25 yard field goal from senior Dylan Dollinger. Lucas Dunn(’22) threw a nice 27 yard touchdown pass to Hanifan to make the final score 37-7.

The key to this game was Chelsea’s defense only allowing the Railsplitters to score seven points. The Bulldogs’ defense was lead by senior Chase Kemp with nine tackles. Mitch Sumner (’20) contributed with an interception and a sack.

“The game against Lincoln went as planned,” said Senior offensive lineman Brian Morgans. “The team showed up and took care of business with another dominant performance to close out the Lincoln rivalry. Every member of the team contributed on the field and held his own which is always a good thing. With a few adjustments and more practice and time in the weight room, I think the Bulldogs will be unstoppable this year”.

The Bulldogs will travel to Adrian this Friday to face the Maples. Adrian has a record of 0-2 after losing to Dexter 54-0 last Friday. To watch this week’s game on live stream, check out the Adrian Maples Athletics Facebook Page.
